Greenville welcomes a new health resource as the former Samaritan Ways addiction recovery center is reborn as Life Health Care. The renovated facility brings together local partners to provide a broad range of services, from substance‑use treatment to family medicine for patients of all ages.
Expanded services for the community
Life Health Care’s offerings include:
- Addiction recovery programs that continue the mission of the former Samaritan Ways center.
- Family medicine and primary‑care visits for children, adults and seniors.
- Weight‑loss programs designed to support healthier lifestyles.
- Therapy appointments, including mental‑health counseling, available both in‑person and via telehealth.
Practice manager Jennifer Brower emphasizes that treating the physical health of patients is essential to lasting recovery. “Once you’re treating the addiction, that side of it, that’s when all the physical issues come out and those need to be addressed as well,” she said.
Personal commitment fuels the mission
Family nurse practitioner Jenny Kipp, who holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice, says the center’s focus is on creating a welcoming environment for a population that often struggles to find support through traditional family practices. “There is substance‑use disorder treatment at a lot of family practices, but not necessarily those that have a passion for that population,” Kipp explained.
Kipp’s dedication stems from personal experience. After witnessing substance‑use challenges affect her own family while she was in and out of foster care, she chose a career devoted to helping others break free from addiction. “There’s a part of seeing the darkness in someone’s eyes turn into light that is really rewarding,” she added.
Accessibility through virtual care
Recognizing the need for flexibility, Life Health Care offers both in‑person and virtual appointments, extending its reach to patients throughout the state of Michigan. Kipp reassures anyone struggling with addiction or other health concerns that help is available: “You’re not locked in a corner or hopeless; there is somebody that’s going to help.”
