Klein Independent School District announced that the $29 million renovation of Klein Collins High School’s auditorium and traffic‑safety improvements will break ground in spring 2027, with completion slated for September 2028. The project, filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Oct. 9, was confirmed by district officials via email on Oct. 22.
Bond funding and community support
The work is financed entirely by the district’s $900 million 2022 bond, which voters approved in May 2022. A Klein ISD spokesperson said the bond reflects the community’s “continued investment in safe, modern, and functional schools that support outstanding opportunities for students.” The district expressed gratitude to the community for approving the bond, noting that the project honors that investment by prioritizing student safety and maintaining existing facilities.
Traffic‑flow improvements
Key components of the plan focus on reducing congestion along Ella Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare that serves the high school. District officials will redesign the traffic pattern to create a dedicated student drop‑off and pick‑up lane, easing bottlenecks during peak hours. Campus driveways will also be repaved, improving roadway conditions for daily users—including students, staff, families and visitors.
Auditorium modernization
The auditorium renovation will bring the performance space up to the standards of other Klein ISD high schools. Upgrades will provide enhanced instructional areas for student performances, practices and fine‑arts programs. In addition, the school’s Nutrition and Food Services area will receive needed renovations, supporting healthier meal service for students.
District leaders emphasized that the project is another example of their commitment to “honoring that investment by prioritizing student safety and security, maintaining our existing facilities, and ensuring our schools provide exceptional learning environments for generations of Klein ISD students.”
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027 and conclude by September 2028, keeping the school operational throughout the renovation period. The district will provide regular updates to families and the broader community as the work progresses.
