Mail‑In Ballot Requests
Voters who prefer to vote by mail must complete the Wisconsin Application for Absentee Ballot. Required information includes name, date of birth, residential address, mailing address (if different), signature, and a copy of a photo ID unless an exemption applies.
Requests can be submitted:
- By mail to the City Clerk’s Office, 625 52nd Street, Room 104, Kenosha, WI 53140
- By email to [email protected]
- Online at MyVote.WI.Gov
The deadline to request a mail ballot is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026. Voters who are indefinitely confined or serving in the military have an extra day, until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
ID Requirements and Exemptions
When voting in person, Kenosha requires a valid photo ID. Acceptable forms include a Wisconsin driver’s license or ID, an unexpired Wisconsin driver’s license receipt, a U.S. passport, a U.S. uniformed service military ID, or an unexpired U.S. Veterans photo ID. A full list is available at BringIt.WI.Gov.
Photo ID is not required with an absentee ballot request if the Clerk’s Office already has the voter’s ID on file, if the voter is indefinitely confined due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability, if the voter lives in a nursing home or care facility, or if the voter is in the military or permanently overseas.
Returning Your Mail Ballot
Completed absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk’s Office no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3. The U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing ballots at least ten days before the election. Voters may also use FedEx or other courier services. Ballots cannot be dropped off at a polling location or placed in utility payment boxes; the City of Kenosha does not operate ballot drop boxes.
Special Circumstances
Voters who become hospitalized within seven days of the election may designate an agent to pick up and return their ballot. The agent must deliver the ballot to the City Clerk’s Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, and the request deadline for an agent is 5:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Potential Confusion from Third‑Party Mailings
Some residents have reported receiving unsolicited absentee ballot request forms from organizations such as the Voter Participation Center or the Center for Voter Information. These envelopes are marked “Vote at home ballot request form enclosed. Do not discard.” The City Clerk’s Office advises voters to verify the source of any unsolicited form and to contact the office if they have already updated their registration or submitted a request.
Where to Find Your Polling Place
On Election Day, polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. Voters can locate their assigned polling location by visiting MyVote.WI.Gov or by calling the City Clerk’s Office at (262) 653‑4020.
For additional assistance, the City Clerk’s Office is located at 625 52nd Street, Room 105, Kenosha, WI 53140, and can be reached via email at [email protected].
