Las Vegas – Former Vice President Kamala Harris spent Wednesday at the Culinary Union’s Las Vegas headquarters rallying union members and volunteers for the November 3 election. In a brief nine‑minute speech, Harris warned that the race in Nevada is “tight” and that supporters must not let momentum slip in the final days before voting begins.
Harris’s call to action
After remarks from Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Aaron Ford and Congresswoman Dina Titus, Harris told the crowd, “We’ve got a serious fight in front of us. That era of feeling powerless is over. This is the moment where the power of the people reigns, and we don’t ever let anybody take our power from us.” She urged volunteers to keep reaching out to voters, saying, “Let’s do this thing. It’s gonna be tight. It will not be easy, but we don’t want to have any regrets on the 14th day about what we could have done these 13 days.” Early voting runs through Oct. 30, with Election Day set for Nov. 3.
Republican response
Incumbent Republican Governor Joe Lombardo, who voted early at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, declined to comment directly on Harris’s remarks, stating, “I’m here to deal with me and what I stand for and moving the state forward. I think we’ve done a fantastic job in the last four years and appreciate everybody’s support.” Lombardo’s office emphasized the administration’s record on public safety and economic growth.
Other Nevada Republicans were more pointed. Anna Marian Block, deputy communications director for the Republican Governors Association, criticized Harris and Ford for what she called a “habit of siding with criminals over hardworking Nevadans,” citing policies such as border openness and clemency for convicted murderers.
Better Nevada PAC spokesman John Burke added, “Aaron Ford has built his failing campaign around bringing California Democrats’ high‑cost, soft‑on‑crime agenda to our state. He has voted for clemency for 30 murderers, including an FBI Most Wanted thrill killer and a gang member who shot a pregnant woman. Nevadans know Ford’s agenda would destroy our state’s future; that’s why they’re rejecting him and voting to re‑elect Governor Joe Lombardo.”
Local voter concerns
At the rally, one attendee, Jessie Garduno, a cook on the Las Vegas Strip, said his top concerns were the cost of living and immigration. He recounted his stepfather’s deportation seven years ago, noting the heartbreak it caused his family. “We don’t need to be taking people from families,” Garduno said. “Good people come here to the United States to work, for their families to have a living here.”
Election logistics
Clark County officials remind voters that early voting sites are open now and can be located on the county website. Voters can also check registration status, update their information, and track mail‑ballot status at Vote.NV.gov.
As the campaign enters its final stretch, both parties are urging supporters to stay active. Harris’s message focused on voter empowerment, while Republican leaders highlighted concerns over Democratic policy proposals and the incumbent governor’s record.
