Fargo police were called to a disturbance involving a large crowd in the 5600 block of 36th Avenue South shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. Officers arrived to find that a juvenile female had been assaulted during the commotion.
According to the police statement, a male who attempted to provide shelter for the juvenile placed her in his vehicle and left the scene. He later returned with the juvenile, and the vehicle was surrounded by onlookers. As the driver tried to depart, the vehicle struck an individual standing nearby.
The person hit by the vehicle suffered non‑life‑threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police quickly located the driver a short distance away with assistance from the West Fargo Police Department.
No arrests have been made and no citations were issued at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have asked anyone with additional information to contact the Fargo Police Department.
Community response and safety concerns
Residents in the South Fargo area expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for calm and cooperation with law‑enforcement efforts. Local community leaders urged citizens to avoid large, unstructured gatherings that can quickly become unsafe.
The police department reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and encouraged anyone who witnessed the events or has relevant video footage to come forward. They also reminded the public that providing assistance to a minor in distress should be done through proper channels, such as contacting emergency services, rather than attempting to handle the situation independently.
Police investigation continues
Investigators are reviewing statements from witnesses and examining any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras. The focus of the investigation is to determine the circumstances that led to the assault of the juvenile and the subsequent vehicle collision.
Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals involved, citing privacy considerations for the minor and the victim. They emphasized that the safety of all community members remains a top priority.
As the case develops, Fargo police will provide updates through official channels. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and report any suspicious activity to help keep the neighborhood safe.
