The Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 invites Naperville residents and veterans to its annual Turkey Raffle on Saturday, November 21, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be held in Kendall Hall, the spacious upstairs banquet room at 908 W. Jackson Avenue.
Food, drinks and fundraising
Chef Terrell Cole, owner of Dark Horse Catering, has prepared a dinner menu with a variety of choices priced for families. A cash bar will be open, and the VFW canteen downstairs will also serve refreshments.
Raffle tickets will be sold on site. Prices include $1 per turkey ticket, $5 for prime rib tickets, $5 for 50/50 tickets, and $1 for assorted prize packages contributed by Auxiliary members. The popular “Booze Raffle” will return, and additional surprise prizes are expected.
Supporting veterans and the community
Proceeds from the raffle help fund the VFW’s operations, including the canteen, maintenance of Kendall Hall, and a range of programs for veterans and their families. The facility also hosts weekly Friday Night Fish Fry events during Lent and serves as a meeting space for local service groups such as the Naperville Jaycees and Naperville Responds for Veterans.
Commander Staci Boyer, a Navy veteran, oversees the post’s year‑round activities, ensuring that veterans receive care and that community groups have a reliable venue for gatherings.
Venue rentals and community use
Kendall Hall, with its large updated banquet room and ample parking, is available for private rentals. It can accommodate up to 250 guests for birthday parties, anniversaries, bridal showers, wedding receptions, family reunions, memorial luncheons and other special occasions.
The enclosed back porch provides an additional space for meetings, fundraisers, and social events.
How to get involved
Tickets can be purchased during the raffle at the VFW post. No reservations are required for attendance. For more information about the Turkey Raffle, the VFW Auxiliary, canteen hours, rental rates, or the post’s veteran programs, visit www.napervfw3873.org.
Past attendees have praised the event’s lively atmosphere. “The raffle was very well attended, everyone laughing and having a great time, and lots of money was donated to the VFW for their veteran‑oriented causes,” noted longtime supporter Jim Hoch.
