Jett Business Systems, a Shreveport‑Bossier security and mailing solutions firm, is set to provide meals for more than 1,000 first‑responders on Thursday and Friday, June 26‑27, according to KTAL News. The “Feed the Cops, Feed the Fire” initiative, launched during the height of the COVID‑19 pandemic, aims to thank the men and women who protect the community.
Owner Tim Jett explained the program’s origins: “Back in the COVID days, everyone was wearing masks and it was hard to know who the good guys were. They weren’t getting a lot of love back then, so we decided to do something about it.” The effort began with 350 meals in its first year and has grown to serve over 1,000 first responders annually, including members of the Shreveport and Bossier fire departments, the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.
Local barbecue establishments are providing the food at no charge. Partner restaurants include Podnuh’s BBQ, Bodacious BBQ, Silver Star Smokehouse, Brookshire’s, Eagle Distributing and Down Home Meats. Jett praised their generosity, noting, “These restaurants didn’t ask for anything. Even when no one was making money, they just stepped up.”
On June 26‑27, volunteers from Jett Business Systems will make stops at four locations: the North District of Caddo Parish, the Downtown Shreveport Police Headquarters, Bossier City Hall and the Bossier Parish Reserve Center. Meals will be personally delivered to officers, firefighters and sheriff’s deputies on duty.
Community members can support the program by spreading the word, sharing posts on social media or volunteering. Jett said, “Just spreading the word helps us more than you know.” Interested parties can learn more or get involved by visiting JettBusiness.com or the company’s Facebook page.
Each participant also receives a custom “Feed the Cops” or “Feed the Fire” hat featuring logos from the partnering vendors, serving as a visible token of gratitude for the first‑responders’ daily service.
What’s next: The meal deliveries will occur on June 26 and 27 at the four listed sites. Residents who wish to volunteer or donate supplies are encouraged to contact Jett Business Systems through their website or social media channels before the event.
