South Austin residents will gather on Saturday, Nov. 8, to honor three decades of worship, service, and fellowship at Impact Family Church. The non‑denominational congregation will host a 10 a.m. celebration that includes a special worship service followed by an outdoor party featuring barbecue, desserts, and yard games.
History of growth and partnership
Founded in January 1996 as World Harvest Outreach Church, the congregation held its first services at the South Austin Recreation Center. Later that year the church moved to Cherry Creek Plaza, and in July 2011 it found a temporary home at Clint Small Middle School, where it remained until 2019. The name changed to Impact Family Church in January 2013, reflecting a broader vision of community impact.
In July 2019 Impact merged with Jubilee Christian Center, and the first joint service was held at the current location, 2909 W. William Cannon Drive, on July 21. The merger expanded the church’s reach, bringing together believers from across the Austin metro area.
Celebration details
Pastor John Larkam, who leads the congregation, said in an email to Community Impact, “God has built a loving community at Impact from all around the Austin Metro area. We have a diverse community of believers of all ages and backgrounds who love God and people and are growing in their relationship with God and one another.” The celebration will feature a worship set, a brief message from Pastor Larkam, and a family‑friendly outdoor gathering.
Attendees can enjoy a catered barbecue, a selection of desserts, and a variety of yard games designed for all ages. The event is open to church members, former members, and anyone in the South Austin community who wishes to share in the milestone.
Impact’s ongoing ministries
Beyond the anniversary celebration, Impact Family Church supports ministries across the United States and missionaries worldwide. The church’s outreach programs include local food drives, youth mentorship, and international mission trips, reflecting its commitment to serve both the immediate neighborhood and the global body of Christ.
The 30‑year anniversary serves as a reminder of the church’s role in fostering faith‑centered community life in South Austin, a city known for its vibrant cultural mix and growing families. As the congregation looks ahead, it plans to continue expanding its ministries, strengthening family bonds, and providing a spiritual home for current and future generations.
