Holcomb, Kansas – A local family is pleading for help after their dog, Baymax, was allegedly stolen from their neighborhood and later found dead. Alberto and Viki Veyza say four individuals drove through their area in early October, seized the dog, and vanished.
What happened
The Veyzas recount that a blue Ford Raptor was captured on their Ring camera stopping near their home. The footage includes a brief yip that appears to be Baymax before the vehicle drives away. According to Alberto Veyza, a person in the truck later told a police officer they were “just chasing a brown wiener dog,” a claim the family disputes because Baymax is not brown and is not a wiener‑type breed.
Family’s response
“To think that someone could do something so malicious, so evil, to something so innocent, is heartbreaking,” Viki Veyza said. The couple said the incident has been especially hard on their children, particularly their daughter with special needs, who was closest to Baymax. “She still wants to go get the treat, but her brain doesn’t work that way,” Alberto Veyza added.
After days of searching, the family discovered Baymax’s body a few houses down from their home. “We couldn’t even show our kids. Our kids couldn’t even tell him goodbye,” Viki Veyza said, describing the emotional toll.

The Veyzas say they have spoken with the Finney County Sheriff’s Office, but as of Wednesday night the agency had not provided a public update on the case. The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, hoping any conversation or tip could bring the closure they need.
