Governor works with ‘The Cousins’ to clean up litter
TAOS, N.M. — Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham launched a series of Earth Day–linked cleanup activities on Friday, making stops at Ranchitos Park in Española and Eco Park in Taos to help pick up litter and promote local volunteer efforts.
She was joined at those events by actors Daniel Moncada and Luis Moncada, widely recognized for their roles as “The Cousins” on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The brothers participated alongside community volunteers to help remove trash and talk with residents about keeping public spaces clean.
The Moncada brothers also appear in the state’s “Breaking Bad Habits” anti-litter campaign, a public outreach effort that uses familiar faces to raise awareness about litter prevention and the environmental impacts of trash in neighborhoods, parks and roadways.
The cleanup activities are continuing through the weekend. The governor and the Moncadas are scheduled to take part in two additional community cleanups on Saturday as the statewide effort moves to other towns.
- Saturday, April 18 @ 10 a.m. — Heritage Park, Los Lunas
- Saturday, April 18 @ 12 p.m. — Otero Park, Socorro
Officials encouraged residents to attend any nearby event, bring gloves and sturdy shoes, and help keep local parks and public spaces free of litter. The weekend of cleanups is intended to coincide with Earth Day and to build momentum for cleaner streets, safer parks and stronger community pride.
