Two former Broken Arrow football standouts are giving back to the community they grew up in, hosting the fourth annual “Follow Your Dreams” youth football camp for young players in the area.
“Seeing the kids play out here, it brings out the kid in me.”
More than 100 Green Country youngsters hit the turf at Tiger Memorial Stadium in Broken Arrow on Saturday morning for the 4th annual “Follow Your Dreams” youth football camp.
“It’s a true blessing to come back here to Broken Arrow, the high school I played at, and see all these kids come out here, trying to do the extra stuff. Put their head down and grind,” said former BA Tiger, and current Oklahoma State Cowboy defensive back, Maurion Horn.
The free camp is hosted by former BA standouts Robert Spears-Jennings and Maurion Horn, who see it as an opportunity to give back to the community that helped raise them.
“That’s why I feel like God put me on this Earth to do, and that’s inspire and help others grow. So I feel like I’m just doing my job that God helped me to do,” said former OU Sooner, and current Pittsburgh Steelers safety, Robert Spears-Jennings.
The camp, now in its fourth year, reflects a continued commitment by the former players to invest in the next generation of athletes right here in Broken Arrow. By returning home to run the event year after year, the pair have built a tradition that local youth and families can count on each summer.
