Tulsa, Oklahoma – Family & Children’s Services (FCS) announced today that enrollment is open for its new Adult Education program, a free initiative aimed at helping residents age 16 and older achieve high‑school equivalency, improve reading and math skills, and prepare for the workforce.
Program options and delivery formats
The curriculum includes GED and HiSET preparation classes, high‑school equivalency testing, and pathways to the Oklahoma Career Readiness Diploma. Participants can also receive support for reading and math development and career‑readiness counseling. To accommodate diverse schedules, FCS offers flexible learning formats: fully online courses, traditional classroom settings, and hybrid options that blend both.
Geographic reach
While the program is headquartered in Tulsa, FCS will deliver services throughout Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, and Muskogee counties, ensuring that adults in both urban and rural communities have access to the resources they need.
Support for testing costs
FCS will assist participants in navigating available resources to offset any fees associated with proctored high‑school equivalency testing, removing a common financial barrier for adult learners.
Community impact
“For many adults, returning to school means overcoming years of self‑doubt, setbacks, or disrupted education,” said Lani Burns, director of Employment & Education with FCS Adult Education & Recovery Services. “Family & Children’s Services has long been a place where people find support, hope, and a path forward, and we are proud to extend that same safe and welcoming environment to adults ready to continue their educational journey.”
The program is designed to strengthen the local workforce by equipping participants with credentials and skills that align with employer needs. By offering free education and career guidance, FCS hopes to create pathways to stable employment and personal advancement for Tulsa-area residents.
How to enroll
Interested individuals can obtain more information or begin the enrollment process by calling the Adult Education office at 918‑949‑4100 or by visiting the FCS website.
