Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a crash with injuries forced the closure of every eastbound lane on Montano Road at the intersection with Edith Boulevard in the northeast part of Albuquerque. The incident also resulted in the temporary shutdown of southbound traffic on Edith Boulevard in the same area.

Impact on commuters

Motorists seeking to travel through the affected corridor are being directed to the nearest alternate route, Comanche Road, which runs parallel to Montano and provides a viable detour while crews work at the scene. The sheriff’s office has not released details about the number or severity of the injuries, but officials emphasized that the road will remain closed for an extended period while investigations and clean‑up continue.

Response from local authorities

Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office arrived promptly after the crash was reported. They secured the area, provided medical assistance to those injured, and coordinated with emergency medical services. “Our priority is the safety and well‑being of the public,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said. “We ask drivers to obey all signage and follow the recommended detour to keep traffic moving safely.”
