Dripping Springs, TX – The Dripping Springs Community Foundation (DSCF) marked its 26th year of service by continuing to fund a wide range of local charities and projects. Founded in 1999 by a group of community‑focused residents, the foundation runs two grant cycles each year, distributing money to dozens of initiatives that strengthen families, faith‑based groups and neighborhood life.
Grant program highlights
Since its inception, DSCF has supported 122 local projects and 52 nonprofit organizations. “We’re not trying to compete with other nonprofits who are serving clientele,” said DSCF President Chris Marcum. “We are here for the long term … to invest in the community over time.” The foundation’s recent grant awards include funding for the Dorian Zev Kweller Memorial Skatepark, a safe recreation space for youth, and Lonestar Outreach’s Place Ex‑Racers program, which provides assistance to former race‑car drivers transitioning to new careers.
New community‑survey effort
One of the newest initiatives, the DSTX Cares Project, received DSCF backing to conduct a comprehensive survey of Dripping Springs residents. “The DSTX Cares Project, I think, has great promise to inventory our community about what is important and what should be considered in the long term for our community,” Marcum explained. The survey aims to identify priority areas such as public safety, park development, and support for local families, giving citizens a direct voice in shaping future projects.
How residents can help
DSCF encourages community members to contribute to its mission. The foundation accepts donations to an undesignated fund, allowing donors to support the overall grant program. Individuals may also browse DSCF’s nonprofit directory to give directly to specific organizations they trust. For those interested in deeper involvement, the board of directors welcomes new members; prospective volunteers can contact the foundation via the email address provided on its website.
Looking ahead
With a growing population and expanding needs, DSCF remains committed to fostering a united Dripping Springs. “We’re growing so fast, and we really want to try to continue to build the community together as one community,” Marcum said. The foundation’s continued focus on long‑term investment, transparent grant processes, and community‑driven priorities reflects its core belief that strong, faith‑centered families and local partnerships are the bedrock of a thriving town.
