Crumble & Whisk Patisserie Does French Right in Midtown

By nine on a Saturday morning, the small tables outside Crumble & Whisk on NW 10th are mostly full. Someone’s working a laptop. A couple splits a kouign-amann. A kid stares hard at the pastry case while her dad orders at the counter. This is the rhythm of the place — unhurried, local, slightly cramped in the best way.

Crumble & Whisk opened in OKC’s Midtown corridor and quickly became the go-to for people who care about laminated dough. That sounds narrow, but it isn’t. The croissants here — plain, almond, chocolate — are properly made: shatteringly crisp on the outside, with enough interior layers to suggest real work went into them. The almond version is finished with sliced almonds and a generous hit of frangipane that stops short of cloying. It runs around $5, which is fair for something this labor-intensive.

The rotating seasonal tarts are worth checking — a fruit version with pastry cream and whatever’s close to peak, or occasionally a chocolate ganache variation that arrives looking almost too composed to eat. Macarons show up in the case but don’t hog the spotlight the way they do at places trying too hard to signal French. Here they’re just part of the spread.

On the savory side, a ham and gruyère croissant is available most mornings and holds up well enough to serve as breakfast without supplementing with anything else. Coffee is handled capably — espresso drinks, drip, the basics — and the quality is consistent. This isn’t a coffee-forward operation; the pastries drive everything.

The space itself is compact. Interior seating fills fast on weekends, so arriving by 9 a.m. is a reasonable strategy if sitting inside matters. The patio works from spring through mid-fall, though Oklahoma afternoons eliminate the outdoor option by early summer most days. Weekday mornings are quieter and the case is still full — pastry output seems calibrated to the crowd, not overproduced.

Prices are reasonable for the category. Most individual pastries run $4–$6. A coffee and a croissant comes to under $12 without feeling like a compromise. The team behind the counter is efficient without being brusque — they know the menu and don’t oversell.

Parking in Midtown can be a mild nuisance on weekends, but street spots open up within a block or two most mornings. The shop is clearly marked on NW 10th, in a stretch that also includes a few other independent businesses that have taken hold in the neighborhood over the last several years.

Crumble & Whisk doesn’t try to be a full café or a brunch destination. It does one category of thing — French-style patisserie — and does it with enough precision to make the OKC pastry scene look more serious than many visitors expect. For anyone who’s written off this city as a croissant desert, one visit tends to revise that assessment quickly.

Hours skew morning-heavy; the operation typically wraps by early afternoon and sells out before closing on busy days. Checking their social channels for daily specials is worth the thirty seconds it takes.
