North Las Vegas residents gathered at Craig Ranch Regional Park on Saturday for the annual Military, Veterans & First Responders Appreciation Day. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 13th motorcycle through the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association’s Wheels 4 Warriors program.
Veteran receives road‑ready bike
Chapter 41‑1 of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association handed a used, road‑ready motorcycle to a selected veteran from the greater Las Vegas area. The ceremony followed the chapter’s third annual memorial poker run, which concluded at the same park.
“This is a fantastic day we planned all year for,” said Scott White, public‑relations officer for Chapter 4‑11 of the association. “We honor those who are not with us anymore, raise money, and support veteran causes here in Southern Nevada.”
Wheels 4 Warriors program details
The Wheels 4 Warriors initiative matches a local veteran with a motorcycle and provides first‑year support needed to ride safely. Recipients typically receive the bike, protective gear, assistance with registration and insurance, a fuel card, and, when necessary, license‑training lessons. There is no requirement for recipients to join the association.
The program’s goal is to give veterans a reason to get outside, stay connected, and use the open road as a form of “wind therapy.” By providing both the vehicle and the support infrastructure, the association helps veterans regain mobility and community ties.
Community impact
Local veterans and their families have praised the program for its practical assistance and the sense of camaraderie it fosters. The motorcycle not only offers transportation but also serves as a symbol of appreciation for the sacrifices made by service members.
Organizers hope the continued success of Wheels 4 Warriors will inspire other community groups to develop similar initiatives that address the unique needs of veterans, reinforcing the strong tradition of support within Southern Nevada.
