Organizers Jenny Escobedo and Patricia Kennedy have partnered with Peggy’s Attic and Clark County Family Services to launch the annual Christmas Pajama Drive. The campaign begins on Nov. 9 and runs through Dec. 4, inviting community members to donate new pajamas for infants, toddlers, and teens in foster care.
Goal and recent success
Last year the drive gathered over 1,000 pajamas. This year the team hopes to collect more than 2,000, a target they believe they may exceed. “We got over 1,000 last year; this year we said we’re going to get over 2,000, and I think we might exceed that,” Escobedo said.
Why the drive matters
Clark County Family Services estimates roughly 3,600 children are currently in foster care in the county. The agency notes that community drives help children feel seen and valued while easing the financial burden on foster and kinship caregivers.
How to donate
Nearly 40 drop‑off boxes will be placed throughout the Las Vegas valley, doubling the locations from the previous year’s 20 sites. Donations must be brand‑new pajamas in sizes ranging from infant to teen. For those unable to visit a box, an Amazon wishlist is available, allowing items to be shipped directly to the organizers.
Distribution
Collected pajamas will be distributed at the Clark County Family Services annual GIVE JOY Toy and Gift event in mid‑December. Escobedo emphasized that pajamas provide a lasting benefit beyond the holiday: “They have the toys and the games, but now they have pajamas they can wear every day or just for Christmas.”
Community impact
Former foster‑care parent Kennedy shared a personal story, noting that many children enter care with very few belongings. “They don’t come with anything. The kids we took in came with a duffel bag full of a couple of toys, maybe three pairs of boxers, one pair of socks,” she said.
Residents are encouraged to visit ChristmasPJDrive.com for a complete list of drop‑off locations, the Amazon wishlist QR code, and additional donation information.
