Jackson, WY – After five decades of serving Teton County from leased classrooms, Central Wyoming College (CWC) is unveiling its first permanent campus in Jackson. The grand‑opening celebration will take place Thursday, Nov. 5, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2020 W. High School Road, adjacent to Jackson Hole High School.
Event schedule
The program begins with welcoming remarks at 2 p.m., followed by a ribbon‑cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. An open house with campus tours will run until 5:30 p.m., giving visitors a chance to see the new 20,300‑square‑foot facility, meet faculty and staff, and learn about the college’s academic and workforce programs.
Why this matters to Jackson
The new campus consolidates classrooms, specialized laboratories, a commercial teaching kitchen, nursing simulation labs, health‑care classrooms, a computer lab, and flexible career‑technical spaces under one roof. It doubles the capacity of the nursing program and triples the culinary program, creating more opportunities for skilled‑trade training, health‑care education, and lifelong learning.
“This is an extraordinary moment for Central Wyoming College and the Jackson community,” said CWC President Brad Tyndall. “For 50 years we have worked alongside this community to provide access to higher education, workforce training and opportunity. This beautiful new campus represents the determination, generosity and shared vision of so many people who believed in what we could accomplish together.”
Community impact
Dean Amy Madera emphasized that the campus is “about so much more than a building.” It will serve traditional students, working adults, career changers, and high‑school students earning college credit. During the 2025‑26 academic year the Jackson site served 249 non‑concurrent and 420 concurrent enrollment students, with 38 graduates. Approximately 95 % of students come from Jackson and the surrounding region, and the average student age is 28.
The facility also offers a venue for professional development, language classes, community enrichment events, and partnerships with local businesses. “Whether you have taken a class with us, supported a student, partnered with our faculty, contributed to the campus or simply believe in the importance of education, you are part of our story,” Madera added.
Support and gratitude
Executive Director of the CWC Foundation Beth Monteiro thanked the philanthropists, donors, taxpayers, and community partners whose contributions made the project possible. “Their generosity and support have been instrumental in bringing us to this historic milestone,” she said.
The CWC Foundation continues its “Education Elevated in the Heart of Our Community” campaign, focusing on new academic and workforce programs, scholarships, equipment, and faculty recruitment.
Practical details
The celebration is free and open to everyone. Light refreshments will be served, and no RSVP is required. Parking is limited; attendees are encouraged to use the START Bus, walk, or bike to the venue.
