Mobile, Ala. – In a show of community support, Cammie’s Old Dutch announced that a portion of today’s (Oct. 14) sales will be donated to Penelope House, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and their families.
About Penelope House
Penelope House operates out of Mobile and offers safety, shelter, advocacy and ongoing assistance to individuals and children escaping abusive situations. The organization relies heavily on community contributions to keep its doors open and its programs running.
Cammie’s Old Dutch locations
The restaurant chain has three locations in the Mobile area. The original spot on Old Shell Road and Florida Street serves customers from noon until 9 p.m. The Halls Mill location is open from noon until 7 p.m., and the newest venue off County Road 24 in Fairhope welcomes diners from noon until 8 p.m.
All three sites will be contributing a percentage of today’s sales to Penelope House, giving patrons an easy way to support the cause while enjoying a meal.
How the donation works
Each participating location will calculate the donation based on the day’s total sales. The funds will be transferred directly to Penelope House, where they will be used to expand shelter capacity, provide counseling services, and supply essential items for children.
Community response
Local residents have praised the effort, noting that businesses that step up for vulnerable families help strengthen the fabric of the community. “It’s encouraging to see a beloved local eatery give back to an organization that protects our most vulnerable neighbors,” said a regular customer at the Old Shell Road location.
Penelope House officials expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing that every contribution helps them reach more families in need.
