Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Urges Community Support for Lasting Youth Impact

Atlanta families, business leaders and faith‑based groups have a clear invitation from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta: partner in a long‑term effort to lift young people toward economic mobility and strong community roots.

Building impact one hour at a time

Club President and CEO Libby Saylor Wright explains that lasting change does not spring from a single event. It grows through daily interactions—homework help, mentorship, encouragement and skill‑building—that accumulate into confidence and capability. The organization’s Lasting Impact 2030 strategic plan sets an ambitious goal to prepare Metro Atlanta youth for the real world by developing academic foundations, character, leadership and workforce skills.

Community partnership is essential

Wright stresses that the Clubs cannot solve every barrier alone. Success depends on “employers willing to create pathways into their industries; educators who connect learning to possibility; mentors who invest time and experience; philanthropists who see youth investment as an investment in the future workforce; and families who believe young people deserve genuine opportunity.” By aligning these partners, the Clubs aim to expose members to the people and experiences that reveal a hopeful future.

Youth of the Year program showcases results

Each year the Clubs honor outstanding members ages 14‑18 through the Youth of the Year program. Participants demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and community service, while receiving interview coaching, public‑speaking practice and mentorship. The upcoming Youth of the Year Gala on November 6 will celebrate these young leaders. Atlanta media legend Monica Pearson will host, joined by actor, writer and singer Keith D. Robinson—an alumnus of the Greater Augusta Clubs who knows firsthand the transformative power of the organization.

How you can help

Wright invites the community to consider a range of contributions: a modest donation to support academic programs; a volunteer hour mentoring a student; a corporate partnership that opens industry pathways; or a larger philanthropic gift that expands programming depth. Each form of support, she notes, directly fuels the future workforce, entrepreneurs, leaders and neighbors of Metro Atlanta.

Why the effort matters

The Clubs view every young person not just as a future employee but as a future citizen who will help build stronger neighborhoods, churches and families. Investing in youth today, according to Wright, is the surest way to shape a thriving Metro Atlanta for tomorrow.
