From November 3 to November 9, Baltimore’s vibrant art scene offers a packed schedule of openings, performances and community gatherings. The BmoreArt weekly guide highlights events at Goucher College, MICA, Alchemy of Art, Quid Nunc Gallery, the Walters, the Baltimore Museum of Art and Center Stage, giving residents plenty of ways to experience local creativity.
Solo exhibition and performance at Goucher College
On Thursday, November 5, the Bond Gallery at Goucher College will host the opening reception for Xin Ni’s solo show Right and Wrong Undone from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition examines how objects, gestures and cultural meanings shift when they move between contexts. Central to the show is a new installation of brightly colored, translucent plastic forms that reference Chinese funerary traditions. When unfolded, the pieces become lantern‑like sculptures that hang from the ceiling, turning the gallery into a shifting environment of color, transparency and light.
Globe Posters for the People at MICA
Also on Thursday, November 5, the Pinkard Gallery at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) will present the opening reception for Globe Posters for the People from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibition celebrates a Baltimore‑based printing company that, for more than a century, produced high‑contrast, DayGlo‑colored showcards for musicians, political campaigns and traveling shows. Selections from an archive of over fifteen thousand items trace the evolution of Globe Press from its humble beginnings to its current role as a teaching tool and working press. The show runs through December 8.
Benefit opening at Alchemy of Art
Thursday, November 5, 6 p.m.‑9 p.m., Alchemy of Art will host the opening reception for Minas Konsolas’s exhibition Synchronicity. The show explores invisible ties that bind people, using a paint roller as the sole tool to convey the felt experience of those connections. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Fluid Movement, a volunteer group known for synchronized swimming performances. The reception will feature a land‑based performance by the group.
