Archer Aviation Plans Electric Air‑Taxi Service Connecting Frisco Station to DFW Region

Archer Aviation, a designer and manufacturer of electric vertical‑takeoff‑and‑landing (eVTOL) aircraft, unveiled plans for three Texas‑wide air‑taxi networks that would include a Dallas‑Fort Worth route serving Frisco Station. The initiative, detailed in an Oct. 23 press release, aims to give commuters a faster alternative to highway traffic by providing 10‑ to 20‑minute flights aboard the company’s all‑electric Midnight aircraft.

According to Community Impact, the Midnight eVTOL can carry up to four passengers, travel at speeds of up to 150 mph, and is built for short urban trips of roughly 100 miles. Passengers would book rides through the Archer app, with fares estimated at $100 to $150 per trip. If launched, the service would become Frisco’s only air‑taxi option.

The Dallas‑Fort Worth network is planned in partnership with Hillwood, the real‑estate development firm founded by Ross Perot Jr. The network would link the metroplex’s major airports to key business districts, including the rapidly growing Frisco Station area, which has become a hub for corporate offices and mixed‑use development.

“Texas is setting the bar for America’s leadership in the next generation of aviation,” said Adam Goldstein, Archer Aviation founder and CEO, in the release. He added that the networks will let Texans “trade hours in traffic for minutes in the air, while connecting the biggest airports, business districts and sporting hubs.” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also praised the project, noting that the three planned networks will help Texans “reclaim their time” and strengthen American leadership in the skies.

Statewide, Archer’s plans include a Houston network that would connect to Galveston’s beaches and an Austin network that would serve the Circuit of the Americas racetrack. The announcement follows the recent launch of Project Nexus, which began testing air‑taxi services at Perot Field in Fort Worth.

Archer Aviation has not yet built a large commercial fleet of Midnight air taxis and is still working through the remaining stages of Federal Aviation Administration certification while scaling up manufacturing.

What’s next: Archer expects to continue development and certification work throughout 2025, with the goal of commencing commercial service in the Dallas‑Fort Worth area after regulatory approval. Residents of Frisco and the broader North Texas region should watch for updates on launch timelines and booking details as the project progresses.
