Vancouver families have three community‑focused events to look forward to this November, all hosted by the American Legion Smith‑Reynolds Post 14. The organization’s holiday‑season schedule includes a Holiday Bazaar, a Veterans Day Breakfast and a Children’s Christmas Party, each designed to support local veterans and bring neighbors together.
Holiday Bazaar – Friday, Nov. 6
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, the American Legion Family will open its doors at Post 14, 4607 NE St. James Road, for a Holiday Bazaar. Attendees can browse a variety of gift ideas, while Auxiliary members run their annual bake sale throughout the day. “This event is just one of the ways that we’re able to raise funds to support the activities of the American Legion Family,” said Audrey Hoff, president of Auxiliary Unit 14.
Veterans Day Breakfast – Saturday, Nov. 11
On Veterans Day, the post, together with the Sons of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and Columbia Bank, will host a free breakfast for veterans and active‑duty service members from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The meal—featuring pancakes, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice—will be served at the same Post 14 location, giving guests ample time to attend the historic Veterans Day Parade at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
“The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces make or have made sacrifices every day to ensure that Americans continue to enjoy the freedoms that we hold so dear,” said Ron Fryer, commander of Post 14. “This event is just one of the ways that we’re able to honor veterans, military, and their families.” Non‑veterans are welcome to join for a $5 fee.
Children’s Christmas Party – Monday, Nov. 14
The final celebration of the month is a Children’s Christmas Party held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the same Post 14 address. The family‑friendly gathering includes a cake walk, cookie decorating, a duck pond with prizes, balloon decorations, and a Pinewood Derby race. Children will also have the chance to create Christmas cards for local veterans, and Santa Claus will make a special appearance.
Suggested donations are $20 for adults and $5 for children, with all proceeds directed toward supporting veterans in the community.
How to Get Involved
All three events are open to the public. For additional details or to arrange a volunteer shift, callers can reach the post at 360‑696‑2579. Whether you’re looking for holiday gifts, a chance to honor those who have served, or a festive outing for the kids, the American Legion Post 14’s November lineup offers a welcoming space for Vancouver residents to celebrate together.
