Allen residents will see a major upgrade to Green Elementary School after the Allen ISD Board of Trustees approved a $28,632,460 renovation plan during its Oct. 26 meeting. The project, financed by the voter‑approved 2024 bond, aims to modernize the 1995‑built campus and improve safety, energy efficiency and learning environments for the community’s children.
According to Community Impact, the renovation will address roughly 82,447 square feet of space. Scope of work includes replacement of electrical and plumbing systems, conversion of the HVAC system to geothermal heating and cooling, and a complete refresh of finishes such as flooring, fixtures, wall coverings and paint. The school’s lobby and reception area will be redesigned, and upgrades to access control, security cameras and door hardware are also planned.
Brian Neely, Allen ISD’s executive director of operations, said the board’s approval provides a guaranteed maximum price that will guide the district’s “summer of 2027 projects.” Construction management services, architectural fees and soft costs are covered within the approved budget. Balfour Beatty Construction and Corgan Architects have been selected to manage and design the renovation, respectively.
The funding comes from the 2024 bond measure that voters approved to support school improvements across the district. Green Elementary’s last renovation occurred in 2010, and the new work follows a recent construction update that highlighted both Green Elementary and Ford Middle School as the district’s next major projects. Ford Middle School renovations are also expected to begin in 2027.
What’s next? The district plans to commence construction after the board’s approval, with work projected to start in the summer of 2027 and be completed by the start of the 2027‑28 school year. Parents and community members can follow progress through the district’s website and upcoming board meetings.
