Today, November 3, 2026, Akron residents and the broader Summit County electorate are heading to the polls for a full slate of federal, state and local contests. Polls opened promptly at 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Voters still in line at closing time will be allowed to vote.
What’s on the ballot
Ohio’s statewide races appear on every ballot, including the governor’s race, secretary of state, Ohio Supreme Court seats and attorney general. Voters will also decide who fills Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat and the U.S. House seat for their district, as well as the Ohio legislative seats that affect the General Assembly.
In Akron, two local housing measures are up for approval, along with a charter amendment that would give the city’s nine‑member Citizens’ Police Oversight Board and the Office of the Independent Police Auditor additional authority under city law.

All voters must present a valid photo ID. Acceptable forms include an unexpired Ohio driver’s license, state ID card, interim ID from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, U.S. passport or passport card, military ID, Ohio National Guard ID, or a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID. Ohio identification cards are issued free of charge by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
