Investigation Updates
A second note sent to media outlets has revealed that Nancy Guthrie had died, according to three people familiar with the matter. The note did not contain an apology or a request for payment for the release of her body. The first note had claimed she was safe and demanded cryptocurrency in exchange for her release.
The FBI has described the suspect as a man of average build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a black Ozark Trail Hiker Pack 25-liter backpack. The suspect was seen in surveillance footage outside Nancy Guthrie’s home near Tucson, Arizona, on the morning of her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie and her family have been seeking answers and have appealed to the person or people responsible for her mother’s disappearance to return her. In a video posted on Instagram, Savannah Guthrie said, ‘We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace.’
The FBI is urging anyone with information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues, with the FBI working to determine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the authenticity of the notes sent to media outlets.
