Shreveport’s young football fans got a special treat this weekend when NFL wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. partnered with Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation to host a community football camp right here in the Shreveport area.
Marshall, a Shreveport native who went on to play in the NFL, returned to his hometown to give back to the next generation of athletes. The camp, held in partnership with Caddo Parks and Rec, gave local youth the opportunity to learn from a professional player who knows firsthand what it takes to make it from Northwest Louisiana to the highest level of the game.
Events like this one highlight the power of community partnerships — bringing together local government recreation programs and hometown heroes to invest in young people. For many of the kids who laced up their cleats and took the field, an experience like this can be the spark that fuels a lifelong love of the sport and a belief that big dreams are achievable.
Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation continues to play a vital role in connecting residents of all ages with enriching programs and activities, and this football camp stands as a shining example of that mission in action. Shreveport can be proud to call Terrace Marshall Jr. one of its own — and even prouder that he keeps coming back to lift up the community that shaped him.
