Auburn, Alabama, is set to become home to a major new manufacturing operation after Governor Kay Ivey announced that Italy-based Vulcaflex S.p.A. will establish its first U.S. production facility in the city.

Investment and Job Creation

The project represents an investment of nearly $70 million and is expected to create 130 jobs in Lee County. Vulcaflex, a family-owned company founded in 1965 in Cotignola, Italy, manufactures synthetic leather and advanced surface materials used in automobile interiors.

Company officials said the new Auburn facility will allow Vulcaflex to serve automotive manufacturers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico while expanding its presence in the North American market.

Location and Partnerships

Vulcaflex CEO Roberto Bozzi said combining the company’s Italian design expertise with U.S.-based production will help strengthen relationships with major automakers operating throughout North America.

The company selected Auburn Technology Park West for the project after working with the Alabama Department of Commerce’s European Office. Site preparation is already underway ahead of construction.

Auburn Mayor Ron Anders credited the announcement to collaboration between state and local leaders, Auburn University, Southern Union State Community College, and utility partners, calling the project a win for the entire community.
