The Department of Homeland Security marked Father’s Day by honoring fathers whose children suffered or died in crimes the agency linked to illegal aliens, while highlighting a victim-support office President Donald Trump relaunched after the Biden administration shut it down.
Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office
DHS said the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office, known as VOICE, received nearly 900 calls over the past year. Callers identified 815 crimes linked to immigration violations, according to the agency.
The office gives victims and families access to offender custody information, victim services, referrals, and guidance on immigration enforcement and removal issues.
Angel Dads
DHS highlighted Marcus Coleman, Joe Abraham, and Doug Quets, three fathers it described as Angel Dads. Coleman founded Stand With Dalilah after his daughter, Dalilah Coleman, suffered serious injuries at age 5 in a crash DHS attributed to an illegal alien driving recklessly behind the wheel of a semi-truck.
“Dalilah changed my life forever,” Coleman said. “She taught me that being a father is more than providing — it’s protecting, advocating, and refusing to stay silent when change is needed. This Father’s Day, I honor and stand with every Angel Father who turns his pain into purpose and his love into action.”
Joe Abraham’s daughter, Katie Abraham, 20, died in a crash DHS attributed to an illegal alien driving drunk. Abraham said his family should be celebrating her graduation from Ohio University.
“This Father’s Day, our family is once again facing the unimaginable reality that Katie is not here,” Abraham said. “We should be celebrating her graduation from Ohio University and looking forward to all the milestones still ahead of her. Instead, we carry the weight of everything that was taken from her, and from us.”
DHS said Nicholas Douglas Quets, 31, died in Mexico while traveling to Rocky Point. His father, Doug Quets, said Sinaloa-affiliated cartel members ambushed Nicholas during a failed carjacking on October 18, 2024.
“This weekend we will commemorate our second Father’s Day without our beloved son, Nicholas Douglas Quets,” Quets said.
Quets also praised Trump’s Executive Order 14157, which directed federal officials to pursue foreign terrorist organization and specially designated global terrorist designations for certain cartels and other groups.
DHS said 87% of VOICE callers over the past year were victims or victims’ family members. Another 25% requested victim services or referrals, and 62% sought case status information or custody updates.
Callers reported some of the most serious crimes investigated by law enforcement. DHS said 32% reported violent assault, 15% reported rape or sexual assault, 9% reported homicide or manslaughter, 7% reported family or partner violence, and 6% reported stalking or intimidation.
ICE encourages victims, family members, advocates, and witnesses seeking help to contact the VOICE Office at 855-48-VOICE, or 855-488-6423. The hotline operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time.
