Pro-life advocates gathered at the Iowa Capitol Saturday for the fourth annual Iowa March for Life, an event organized by Pulse Life Advocates to promote protections for unborn children in Iowa law.
Event Highlights
The rally featured state leaders, including Republican gubernatorial nominee Zach Lahn, who attended with his family. Attorney General Brenna Bird praised the passage of House File 2788, which prohibits Iowa women from receiving abortion medications like mifepristone through telehealth visits or mail-order prescription services.
After the speeches, pro-life advocates marched around the Capitol and Iowa Supreme Court building, holding signs that read ‘love life – choose life.’ The event comes four years after the landmark Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Abortion is illegal in Iowa after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically around six weeks of pregnancy.
Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart issued a statement about the event, saying, ‘Today, Iowa Republicans joined a march hosted by an organization that is calling for a total abortion ban. Republicans have clearly lost focus while Iowans are 48th in personal income growth, and tariffs continue to drive up the costs for Iowa families.’
