A tragic incident occurred on Interstate 75 in Warren County, Ohio, when a 74-year-old woman was struck and killed by oncoming traffic. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened at approximately 5:19 a.m. near mile marker 31 in Monroe.
According to the OSHP, the woman, identified as Norma Jean Howard of Carlisle, was walking in the northbound lanes of the roadway when she was first struck by a 2023 Kenworth semi-truck that was pulling a tractor trailer. She was then struck shortly afterward by a 2013 Ford Fusion.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the time first responders arrived. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Turlecreek Township Fire and EMS, Barrett’s Towing, and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.
