Shreveport rang in Juneteenth weekend in style as the 39th Annual Let the Good Times Roll Festival kicked off, filling the city with gospel music, community wellness activities, and an unmistakable spirit of celebration.
The long-running festival, now in its 39th year, centered its theme around Juneteenth — the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States — weaving together live gospel performances and community health and wellness programming to create an event that was as uplifting as it was meaningful for Shreveport residents.
The festival got underway Friday evening, drawing community members together for a night of festivities that carried the warmth and energy the event has become known for over nearly four decades. Shreveport’s community also joined in with additional Juneteenth evening celebrations across the city, reflecting just how widely the spirit of the holiday was embraced this year.
For 39 years, Let the Good Times Roll has served as a beloved anchor of Shreveport’s cultural calendar, and this year’s Juneteenth-focused edition proved once again why the festival holds such a special place in the hearts of locals. Whether attendees came for the gospel sounds, the wellness resources, or simply to gather with neighbors and friends, the festival delivered on its promise of good times — and good community.
