A new effort to grow Arkansas’ healthcare workforce is expanding into the River Valley. The Arkansas Health Care Association School of Nursing opened a new campus in Fort Smith. Classes will start next month for nearly 30 students.
The program helps current healthcare workers earn their Licensed Practical Nurse certification in about 10 months. All while continuing to work with tuition fully covered. Leaders say the expansion aims to address the state’s nursing shortage and create stronger career pathways. Graduates can also expect significant pay increases.
Addressing the Nursing Shortage
The Fort Smith site is expected to become the city’s largest LPN training program. This new campus is a step towards addressing the state’s nursing shortage and providing more opportunities for healthcare workers to advance their careers.
