The city of Santa Barbara recently hosted its annual Solstice Parade, which drew thousands of people to the streets. The parade featured a wave theme and included performances by the La Boheme Dance Troupe, Mariano Silva’s samba dancers, and Traci Russell line dancers.
Community Comes Together
The event was a celebration of the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. It was marked by music, dancing, and a sense of community. The Grace Fisher Foundation also participated in the parade with its own wave-themed float.
Longtime parade-goer Arlene Larsen expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “It is incredible, the energy, it is a long walk and the dancing I can’t even walk it, but they are dancing it incredible.” Mo Mcfadden also enjoyed the wave theme, stating, “I thought it was fabulous, I caught the wave, I rode it and I’ve never surfed a day in my life, how about that.”
The parade was made possible by countless volunteers who worked behind the scenes to bring the event to life. Pali X-Mano created a showstopper with a Sundance of The Giant Water Dragon, which was followed by a wave of drums.
