The Carolina Hurricanes celebrated their Stanley Cup win with a parade through the streets of Raleigh on Saturday. This marks the team’s first Stanley Cup win since 2006.
Team’s Postseason Run
The Hurricanes had a phenomenal postseason run, sweeping both the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers in the first two rounds. They lost their first game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Montreal Canadiens but went on to win the next four games. The team then defeated the Vegas Golden Knights for the Cup in six games, with most of the games being instant classics.
During the celebration, General Manager Eric Tulsky revealed that many of the players he had acquired thanked him for bringing them to Carolina. One of them was veteran enforcer Nic Deslauriers, who was acquired from Philadelphia at the trade deadline. Deslauriers made an impression and earned himself a new two-year deal in Carolina.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour also got in on the fun, taking tarps off with some of the players on stage. Brind’Amour, known as ‘The Bod,’ looks like he could still play and is not yet a Hall of Famer.
