A 36-year-old West Palm Beach man died Friday afternoon after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Riviera Beach, police said. The crash happened around 2:37 p.m. in the 100 block of Australian Avenue.
Officers responded after receiving a 911 call about a serious collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle. When police arrived, they found the motorcyclist on a sidewalk unconscious and not breathing. A nurse who was nearby began CPR, and officers also assisted with lifesaving efforts until Riviera Beach Fire Rescue crews arrived.
Despite those efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, a 23-year-old Port St. Lucie woman driving a 2017 Ford Taurus was heading south on Australian Avenue when she turned left onto West First Street. Police said she turned into the path of a northbound motorcycle, causing the crash.
The motorcycle was identified as a 2004 Suzuki GSXR600. The victim’s name has not been released while authorities work to notify family members. The Riviera Beach Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash. Police said the investigation is active and charges are pending.
