Green Bay Athletics Mark Murphy Endowed Director of Athletics Josh Moon has announced that the University has agreed to a contract extension with men’s basketball head coach Doug Gottlieb through the 2030-31 season, reinforcing its commitment to the continued growth and success of the Phoenix men’s basketball program.
Program Growth
Gottlieb, who was named the 10th head coach in program history in May 2024, has worked to establish a strong foundation for Green Bay men’s basketball both on and off the court. Gottlieb guided the men’s basketball team this past season to one of the biggest turnarounds in NCAA History. The Phoenix boosted their win total by 14 games; finishing tied for third in the Horizon League standings in 2025-26.
Gottlieb has also led the program to new heights in the classroom during his tenure. This past season, the Horizon League recognized two Green Bay players for their 2025-2026 Valeo Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team: Marcus Hall and Preston Ruedinger. Green Bay was the only school to have multiple players represented.
