Rochester had plenty of reasons to come together this week, with two uplifting community events taking center stage in the city.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics made its way through Rochester on Thursday, June 19. The annual tradition sees law enforcement officers carry the Flame of Hope through communities across Minnesota in support of Special Olympics athletes. Rochester’s stretch of the run was part of the broader 2026 Special Olympics Torch Run, bringing officers and supporters out to cheer on the cause.

Also on Friday, June 19, Rochester hosted its Juneteenth Jubilee Breakfast — a community gathering marking Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The breakfast brought Rochester residents together to recognize and celebrate the day in a spirit of unity and reflection.

Together, the two events highlighted what makes Rochester’s community tick: neighbors showing up for one another, honoring important traditions, and supporting those who inspire us all.
