It has been a banner week for Sheridan athletics, and the biggest headline belongs to the Sheridan Broncs boys basketball team, who claimed the 2026 Wyoming 4A State Championship — a thrilling title run that has the whole community celebrating.
The Broncs punched their ticket to the top of the podium after rolling past Green River in the first round of the state tournament before ultimately capturing the 4A crown. The championship adds another proud chapter to Sheridan’s storied basketball tradition.
The good news didn’t stop there on the hardwood. The Tongue River Girls Basketball Team, located just down the road in the Sheridan area, repeated as Wyoming 2A State Champions — making back-to-back titles a reality for that program and giving north-central Wyoming two state championship squads to cheer in the same week.
On the track, the Sheridan Boys finished a strong second place at the 2026 Wyoming 4A Indoor Track and Field State Meet, while the girls squad placed sixth — a solid showing for both programs as the school year wraps up.
Rounding out a remarkable stretch of local achievement, a University of Wyoming student from Sheridan was awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Fellowship, recognizing outstanding academic and research promise at the national level.
From the basketball court to the track to the university stage, Sheridan and its surrounding communities have plenty to be proud of this June.
