Dallas-native Scottie Scheffler is chasing a career Grand Slam at the US Open, but for him, it’s about being the best version of himself, not just winning.
Scheffler’s Journey
Scheffler, who has been compared to Tiger Woods, has had an impressive career, with two Masters titles and a PGA Championship win. He is now focused on the US Open, which will be his ninth time playing in the tournament.
Scheffler said, ‘For me, would it be a dream to win the U.S. Open? Of course, but at the end of the day, the Grand Slam has never been a motivating factor for me. I always just wanted to be the best version of myself, and that got me this far.’
Shinnecock Hills Test
The US Open will be held at Shinnecock Hills, a course that is known for its challenging conditions. Scheffler, along with other golfers, including Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott, will face strong winds and tricky greens.
McIlroy said, ‘I think it’s the best championship test in the country. I think it tests all aspects of the game — driving, iron play, you need to have your wits about you on the greens. It’s a lot of strategy, thoughtfulness.’
