Most of New Mexico will be in the 90’s and low 100’s Thursday as the heat wave continues. Some parts of the state will also see windy conditions, and a large portion of the state will see smoke from wildfires in Arizona. Storms are possible Thursday afternoon, especially south of I-40.
The hot temperatures are expected to continue through the Father’s Day weekend. Areas such as Alamogordo, Artesia, and Carlsbad could see temperatures above 100 degrees. Las Cruces could hit 99 degrees later on Thursday afternoon.
Rain chances are slight, but possible, especially in the southern zones. The heat wave is expected to moderate by the second half of the weekend, with temperatures dropping to the lower 90’s.
