911 service has been disrupted in Boone County, Kentucky, as a result of overnight storms that caused damage throughout Northern Kentucky. According to Duke Energy, nearly 11,000 customers are without power, including more than 4,000 customers in and around Florence.
The county says 911 calls are being routed to Kenton County 911 Dispatch and callers are being connected with emergency services. Boone County’s non-emergency line is completely down. The county is asking residents to only call 911 with “urgent life matters” as they work to restore service.
A tornado was confirmed to have touched down in the area, causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. Residents are advised to be cautious when traveling, as many street lights are without power.
