Six El Paso high school seniors have been selected for the fourth cohort of MedFuture, a competitive pre-medical school program jointly announced by Texas Tech Health El Paso and The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
The program, now in its fourth year, is designed to cultivate the region’s next generation of physicians — giving promising young students a structured pathway toward a career in medicine before they even set foot in college.
Being chosen for MedFuture is no small feat. The program is highly selective, and earning a spot signals both academic promise and a genuine commitment to serving the Borderland community through healthcare. With each new cohort, Texas Tech Health El Paso and UTEP are investing directly in homegrown talent — students who know El Paso, grew up here, and may one day care for their neighbors.
The announcement of the fourth cohort marks a meaningful milestone for the partnership between the two institutions, reflecting a sustained, multi-year effort to address healthcare workforce needs in the region by building a pipeline that starts early and stays local.
