The Oklahoma GOP governor race is advancing to a runoff between Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei. Both candidates have already taken aim at each other, with Mazzei touting the endorsement from President Donald Trump prior to the primary.
Runoff Election
Mazzei secured 104,629 votes, while Drummond received 105,787 out of a total of 402,917 votes cast. Drummond suggested that Trump might reconsider his support for Mazzei, saying ‘I think President Trump may readdress this issue and come out and support me. Who knows?’
Mazzei accused Drummond of supporting ‘higher taxes, bigger government and a state that does not stand with Christians or for freedom.’ Drummond framed the runoff as ‘a choice between two very different visions of leadership,’ saying ‘a choice between results and rhetoric, between conviction and convenience, between proven leadership and political ambition.’
