Brendan Sorsby, a quarterback from the Dallas area, is planning to work out for NFL teams before the supplemental draft. This decision comes after he ended his legal fight to retain his eligibility to play college football.
Background
Sorsby had been declared permanently ineligible by the NCAA after admitting to making thousands of bets worth at least $90,000 during his time at three different schools. He had filed a lawsuit against the NCAA and was granted a temporary injunction, but the process was becoming increasingly uncertain.
Sorsby plans to hold his pro day on July 10 at a Dallas-area high school. To be eligible for the NFL’s supplemental draft, he must be ineligible for NCAA play. The deadline for applying for the draft is June 22.
Sorsby played in 35 college games, throwing for 7,208 yards with 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He also ran for 1,295 yards and 22 touchdowns.
