A recent survey of 5,000 U.S. adults found that three in five have a secret stash of snacks hidden somewhere in their home. The survey, commissioned by Popchips and conducted by Talker Research, also found that more than half of respondents have no shame in eating an entire bag of chips in a single sitting.
Snacking Habits
The survey revealed that Americans are far from alone in their snacking secrets. In fact, 53% of respondents agree that it’s more enjoyable to snack with friends than to snack alone. Two-thirds of respondents even admit that they only feel like they can be their real selves when they’re snacking with friends.
When it comes to snacking, Americans have designated ‘snack caches’ or untraditional places where they keep snacks. Three in five respondents keep their stashes inside their home, with most hiding them in their bedroom. Others opt for the living room, garage, attic, or basement.
Snacking with Friends
The survey found that parties and game nights are the best activities to snack with friends. Respondents also revealed that they most often bust out the snacks to watch sports or sitcoms and comedies with friends. Chips topped the list for the best snack when watching certain TV shows, while popcorn is the snack of choice for TV with a touch of drama.
