GOP Picks Dallas for Midterm Convention

The Republican National Committee has chosen Dallas for its midterm convention in September, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Mr. Paxton, the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, told listeners in a Monday tele-town hall that the convention will be held ahead of the November elections.

Midterm Convention Plans

President Trump is expected to speak at the event. Republicans have been planning a midterm convention for several months, hoping to boost voter turnout and enthusiasm. The parties typically hold conventions during presidential election years, but the GOP is hoping a midterm confab will make a difference.

The Washington Times reached out to the RNC, which hasn’t announced any formal plans. The committee’s chairman, Joe Gruters, said in March the party would hold a midterm convention before the Nov. 3 general election.
