Fort Worth ISD Students Post Reading and Math Gains on Spring STAAR Exams

Fort Worth students have something to celebrate this summer: Fort Worth Independent School District posted gains in both reading and math on the spring STAAR exams, with improvements showing up across elementary and middle school grade levels.

Even more encouraging, the Fort Worth Report noted that FWISD outpaced statewide Texas STAAR gains, meaning Fort Worth students improved at a faster rate than the Texas average overall — a meaningful milestone for a district working hard to raise academic achievement.

The gains at the elementary and middle school levels are particularly promising, as strong foundational skills in those grades set students up for success in high school and beyond. Multiple local outlets, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and WFAA, confirmed the upward trend in scores from this spring’s testing cycle.

While district leaders and educators acknowledge there is still work ahead, these results reflect the dedication of Fort Worth teachers, students, and families who showed up and put in the effort this school year. It’s a positive step forward for one of Texas’s largest urban school districts — and good news worth celebrating as summer gets underway.
