Vice President JD Vance Discusses Faith, Immigration on The View

Vice President JD Vance recently appeared on ABC’s The View to promote his newly released memoir on faith, titled ‘Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.’ However, the conversation quickly shifted to various issues facing the Trump administration, including the economy, immigration, and the Epstein files.

Questioning on Economic Issues

The show’s hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, questioned Vance about the country’s economic situation, specifically President Trump’s comments on affordability and inflation. Vance rejected the characterization of Trump’s comment as a ‘hoax,’ stating that the president was referring to the idea that Republicans caused the affordability problem.

Vance also discussed the administration’s efforts to increase manufacturing jobs and other economic improvements, stating that ‘we inherited a mess and we’re fixing it, but sometimes it takes a long time to fix a mess.’

Immigration and Faith

The conversation also turned to immigration, with Vance explaining the evolution of his relationship to President Trump and his views on the issue. Vance stated that as a Christian and a father, he believes in striking a balance between enforcing laws and treating people with respect and dignity.

When asked about rationalizing his Catholic faith with a hard-line stance on immigration, Vance said that ‘you can have borders, you’re allowed to enforce your borders… but you also have to take certain precautions and certain care.’

Epstein Files and Race

Vance was also questioned about the Epstein files and the administration’s stance on race. He acknowledged being a ‘conspiracy theorist’ on the Epstein issue and defended President Trump’s actions, stating that the president was frustrated with the Democrats’ handling of the issue.

Regarding race, Vance stated that ‘everybody is welcome in our political coalition’ and pointed to the administration’s efforts to increase safety in Washington, D.C., a heavily Black city.
