Six tornadoes formed in southwest Iowa during the morning storms on June 11, according to the National Weather Service damage surveys.
Tornado Details
The first tornado touched down near the Missouri River in Fremont County just before 5:30 a.m., followed by five others in Mills, Page, Montgomery, and Adams counties. The strongest tornado, rated an EF2 with 115 mph winds, hit Adams County.
The tornado touched down at 6:26 a.m. five miles southeast of Corning, traveled northeast, and ended south of Prescott near Highway 34 and N61 at 6:32 a.m. Larger areas of southern Iowa were battered by straight-line winds of 80-100 mph.
Additional Tornadoes
Two additional tornadoes have been confirmed in Iowa from storms earlier in June. One brief tornado formed in Davis County on Wednesday, June 10, and another formed in Warren County on June 5.
